Training Volunteers for Service in a Home for the Aged
The author outlines a program initiated by his agency, the Jewish Home for the Aged in Miami, FL, to incorporate volunteers into care for elderly clients. He reviews requirements for success in such a program, including explicitly designed rules and regulations, willingness on the part of staff to value the volunteer program and the volunteers themselves, ongoing training, and effective supervision.
