Response to Hayim Herring's Network Judaism

By Neuman F. Pollack

Susan and David Wilstein Institute of Jewish Policy Studies (University of Judaism), 2001

Rabbi Herring has addressed a central issue confronting the American Jewish organizational community. The dilemma being faced is how to reconcile the reality of patterns of Jewish cohesiveness in contemporary American society with existing organizational structures. One could argue that the traditional religious and social needs of individuals in the Jewish community have not changed; what has changed is the expression and satisfaction of those needs.
