This is a study of the central functions that the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York should provide for Jewish education and the organizational framework and mechanisms that would enable Federation to contribute more effectively to discharging its responsibilities for central services to Jewish education. The study is based on a multi-perspective evaluation of the Federation and the Board of Jewish Education (BJE) activity throughout the years. The author outlines priorities and recommendations for the Federation and for the BJE.
