Abortion and Choice: A Policy Position

American Jewish Committee (AJC), 1986

As a result of recent Supreme Court decisions, it is imperative for the Jewish community to express its stance on abortion-related issues, so that it is able to influence the wider national debate. In this pamphlet, the American Jewish Committee (AJC) lays out its pro-choice policy on abortion, explaining the principles underlying this approach, which include legal and legislative issues, such as access and availability of abortion services, the funding of abortions, and consent and notification. Overall the AJC holds that such a choice is an extremely complex and personal one, touching on moral and religious considerations that are best left to the parent to decide upon.
