The Educational Philosophy of Joseph Schachter

This article is adapted from a lecture given at the 12th International Congress of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. In it the author, former Headmaster of the Reali School in Haifa and Rector of the Levinsky Teachers College in Tel Aviv, introduces the readers to the life and philosophy of Dr. Joseph Schachter. Though not well-known outside of Israel, Schachter had been very influential to Jewish education in Israel, and has been a leader and mentor for many Israeli Jews.
