Ex-Hasid at Rainbow: Memories of a Hasidic Tisch

By Shulem Deen

Josh Rolnick, The Sh'ma Institute, December 2011

The author describes the role that the Hasidic tisch played in childhood growing up in the Hasidic community in Brooklyn and how he conceives of the tisch having now left that community. He states how he realized that what he longed for was not the tisch of his past, but a return to a time and place when ideas moved him even if they didn't make perfect sense.
