Judaism's Dialogue with America's First Lady

Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), September 1994

America's First Lady, Hillary Clinton, has expressed a disappointment with the capacity of democratic and humanistic ideas to form a just and caring society. The editor of AVAR ve'ATID believes that this may be attainable with Judaism's concept of the sanctity of life. As he claims, seeing each individual as holy, or in the words of Martin Buber: as a "Thou," may be able to form the society that Clinton dreams of.
