This study tracks the development of Sh'arim, the Jewish Family Educator Initiative sponsored by the Commission on Jewish Continuity. The research is based on 1995 and 1998 bi-annual reports completed by the family education teams in 11 synagogues. It finds that family education has established itself as a respected part of synagogue life, and that parents who participate in family education gain from the programs in several ways, including a contribution to their Jewish identity, but do not necessarily participate more in synagogue life.
