The relationship between Israel and the American Jewish community has served both partners well. However in the last year, there has been some straining and shifting in the partnership as the separate communities assert different values, priorities and moments in history. Today, there is a critical need to reexamine and reshape the Israel-American Diaspora relationship to provide self and mutual respect, in the context of the realities of the eighties.
