Since the 1920s, Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem, has been the center of Israel's art and culture. This remains largely true, but what makes Jerusalem problematic - its tension â€" is also a fertile ground for curiosity and inspiration. While Tel Aviv has the capacity to sustain art, Jerusalem is more and more often its breeding ground.
