Ramah: A Paradigm for Conservative Jews

By Michael Greenbaum

National Ramah Commission, 2010

Ramah camps transcend the tendency found in the rest of the Conservative Movement to regard the Movement with negativity, the author argues. The success of Ramah can be attributed to four factors:

  • Being built on a vision that its early leaders carefully developed and passed along
  • The creation of a group of early lay leaders who understood and worked for the vision
  • A dedicated group of professional leaders
  • Adhering to its founding vision and values
