No, You May Not Live in Our Midst

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2007

In a summer of bleak news from Israel, a shameful episode stands out, as the Knesset passed a law prohibiting Jewish National Fund land from being leased to non-Jews. For 2,000 years of exile the Jews were exhorted to remember the stranger in their midst, for we were strangers in the land of Egypt. And now an Israeli, who happens to be an Arab, is banned from buying a home in a town that is for Jews only. For Shame.
