An Unsightly Challenge to Israeli Sovereignty

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2007

Extremists on both sides of the Annapolis peace conference claim that the time is wrong for dialogue. Palestinian extremists believe that Israel is beginning to cave, and as Hamas replaces Fatah, their concessions will only grow. Israeli extremists believe that Hamas will cause the Palestinian cause to consume itself from the inside, and will lose all bargaining power. If these two voices have no one to listen to but each other, it would seem they are right.
