The Siege of Gaza Has Failed

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2008

The siege of Gaza has failed, and completely. Withholding fuel and electricity from civilians was a stupid and petty act that served to do nothing but further damage Israel's PR at a time when it hardly seemed it could go any lower. The rockets and terrorism coming from Gaza are in no way acceptable, but the siege did nothing to stop them. And here is the lesson that Israel must learn - the absence of any constructive alternative is insufficient reason to choose a destructive alternative.
