We Have Already Been Defeated in Iraq

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2008

The US has lost the War in Iraq, and the toll has been disastrous - not just in the thousands of lives lost, and in the degradation of America's image around the world, but also for Israel, who faces an emboldened Iran and middle east neighbors who can add American neo-colonialism their list of grievances. It is disturbing then, that that so many Jews suppose that George W. Bush has been so great a friend to Israel. Friendship among nations must be judged by consequences, and the consequences of the Bush policy in the Middle East - most notably but not exclusively Iraq - are calamitous.
