On Settlements, Push Comes to Shove

Is Obama's hard-line stance demanding a cessation of settlement construction just a bump in the road, or is it a game-changer? For decades, American Presidents have looked the other way on contentious issues of Israeli politics, especially the matter of settlements. Perhaps Obama's support will help force Israeli leadership realize that the settlement blocs subvert the peace process and damage the indulgent good will of America, Israel's historic benefactor.
