Echoes of US Racism in Israel

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2012

The emergence in Israel of restricted covenants banning the sales of homes to Ethiopian Jews is a sad echo of American racism, and vile bigotry from people who surely should know better. Sadly, this is the easy case of racism in Israel today, for at least these racists were subject to, and appeared to feel shame for exclusion of Black Jews. The treatment of Israeli Palestinians is the harder case as there is little hope that Jewish racists who discriminate against Palestinians are susceptible to shame. And the witnesses are silent.
