Contentious Politics and the Jewish Community

Social, political, religious and sectarian movements have changed the course of history and Jewish history specifically. Social science literature and social movement theory is deepening our understanding of Jewish collective action with important theoretical and methodological tools. This article discusses differing approaches to social movements and acknowledges that movements can have both positive or negative impacts.
