World Jewish Population, 1972 Estimates

By Leon Shapiro

American Jewish Committee (AJC), 1973

There are no precise data on Jewish population in the various countries. The figures presented below represent the best possible estimates for 1972. They are based in local censuses, communal registration, and local informants, and data obtained from a special inquiry during the year. Some figures were taken from previous volumes since there was no way of arriving at a valid new estimate.
