Review of The Jewish Polity: Jewish Political Organization from Biblical Times to the Present by Daniel Elazar and Stuart Cohen

By Pesha Bat Moshe

Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), 1986

The author reviews "The Jewish Polity: Jewish Political Organization from Biblical Times to the Present by Daniel Elazar and Stuart Cohen," a work intended to present an overall picture of the political system of the Jewish polity and the various regimes that have served the Jewish people throughout the centuries. She writes that due to the usage of difficult Hebrew terminology along with the presupposition that the reader has more than a rudimentary knowledge of Biblical and post-Biblical Jewish history, the work is more suitable as a textbook-guide for an advanced student rather than for the general reading public.
