The Future of the Judaism or the Judaism of the Future: About the Jewish Values: Ravitzky

By Aviezer Ravitzky

JDC International Centre for Community Development, January 10, 2002

In a speech given at the Latin American Conference for Jewish Lay and Professional Leadership held in 2001, Professor Aviezer Ravitzky asserts that Israel has a greater responsibility to the global community due to the power that it now possesses. The author moves on to declare a new era of Jewish values, in which there exists a conflict of values. In large part, this conflict comes from the different interpretations and memories that Jews from various countries have of classic Jewish texts. The author asserts that the global Jewish community must have a pluralistic attitude in order to understand and respect varying viewpoints.
