Face to Face: Black-Jewish Dialogues on Campus

By Cherie Brown

American Jewish Committee (AJC), 1987

The author addresses the tension between African American and Jewish communities and describes the Black-Jewish dialogue program, which was developed by the National Coalition Building Institute. The American Jewish Committee and NCBI designed workshops on five college campuses in order to develop awareness of how to function as a tolerant and peaceful multiethnic society, and to demonstrate how divided groups can come together for greater success in their endeavors. The document outlines the workshop model, the reaction of students to the dialogue, and guidelines for workshop sponsors.
