Facing the Future: Conference on New Perspectives in American Jewish Sociology

American Jewish Committee (AJC), May 1986

During this conference, held in New York in May of 1986, the participants discussed the changing perspectives in American Jewish sociology, and how these new dynamics will impact the future of the American Jewish community. The discussion is preceded by a number of speeches and presentations given by prominent Jewish scholars and researchers. The first session features Nathan Glazer's "New Perspectives on American Jewish Sociology,' while the second session is a discussion of the demographic future of American Jewry. The third session is an exploration of the current quality of American Jewish life. The appendix shares an Israeli perspective on the discussion topics.
