In this presentation to the Annual Meeting of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service in Philadelphia on May 27, 1973, the author discusses purposes served through fundraising begin with raising money, but which go far beyond it. Other purposes served by fundraising, the author explains, include: developing givers; developing solicitors and campaigners; developing communal leadership; planning for budgeting and accounting; and maintaining, developing and improving performance standards.
