Fact and Opinion

By Theodore R. Isenstadt

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Fall 1961

This article presents in brief a miscellaneous sample of happenings in Jewish communities around the world. These include: the establishment of a national certification plan for social workers and the announcement of the sixth annual summer workshop in Israel for Jewish communal service workers. Additionally, Alfred Kutzik responds to a book review that had appeared in the previous issue of the journal; Kutzik underscores his approach to the communal (rather than individual) practice of Judaism in contemporary America. Another letter to the editor highlights the scientific bases of social work and the value of the social sciences to service professionals.
