Fact and Opinion

By Samuel Spiegler

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Fall 1969

This article presents in brief a miscellaneous sample of happenings in Jewish communities around the world. These include excerpts from a speech made in praise of Jewish social workers, a report on the creation of the Bureau for Careers in Jewish Service, an overview of the Reform high school initiative called the Eisendrath International Exchange Program, the reaction of many Jewish mothers against Philip Roth's "Portnoy's Complaint," a communal history project of the Pittsburgh Jewish community, and a tally of Jewish youth activities that indicate that not all Jewish youth are hopelessly alienated from the traditions of their people and the life of Jewish communities.
