The Uncertain Future of American Jewry-Israel Relations

By Gabriel Sheffer

Middle East Institute (Jerusalem), Summer 1984

In the early 1980s, Israel finds itself increasingly isolated in the international arena. Probably the most serious setback in this sphere is Israel's fluctuating relationship with its main political patron and economic benefactor, the United States. This article examines the growing gap between Israel and the American Jewish community since the early 1970s.
