By Joy Levitt

Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association (RRA), Spring 2006

This piece looks at the tractate of the Mishna, Pirkei Avot and advocates for the importance of the Torah as a vital text both historically and in the 21st century. The author examines the importance of prayer in terms of his own personal experience and its meaning in the Jewish community. The author concludes by asserting that 21st century Judaism widens the markets of Jewishness to include the way people treat each other as well as embracing Judaism as a spiritual practice.
