Hillel Brochure 1945

B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundations Commission, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, 1945

A 1945 brochure for Hillel declares that the organization provides guidance to Jewish students by making Jewish religious and cultural values vital and relevant for the college generation. A U.S. map represents the 118 campuses with Hillel foundations, and the opening of a Hillel at the University of Havana is advertised. As well, the goals, techniques, and history of the organization are summarized. Special emphasis is given to debunking the claim that Hillel foundations segregate Jewish students from the rest of the student body; on the contrary, Hillel has succeeded in integrating Jewish organizations into college communities where before they were entirely shut out, demonstrating the role that the foundation can play on developing the modern Jewish-American.
