Fact and Opinion

By Samuel Spiegler

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Winter 1964

This article presents in brief a miscellaneous sample of happenings in Jewish communities around the world. These include a summary of federation collections in 1964, a report on Jewish school attendance in 1963-64, communities' attempts to provide low-cost housing for the aged, the creation of a memorial foundation for Jewish culture, and the unexpected cultural differences experienced when giving American food to families in Tunisia. As well, a reader submits a poem in honor of a contributor to a previous issue, and the editor composes an In Memoriam for Miriam Dettelbach, the Executive Director of the Jewish Family Service Bureau of Cincinnati, Ohio.
