Comment: The Place of the Jewish Community Center in Jewish Life: A Formulation of the Position of the Center

By Charles Zibbell

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Fall 1957

This piece comments on Sanford SolenderĂ¢??s piece, "The place of the Jewish Community Center in Jewish life." The commentary highlights the relationship between the Jewish Center and the synagogue and the difficultly in improving the relationship. The piece also asserts that while the paper focused on the mission of the Jewish Center, Center workers must have a self-conscious and well-articulated role in shaping Jewish community life. The commentary concludes by affirming that beneficial beginning steps have been taking place towards establishing mutual understanding between the Center and the Synagogue.
