This report surveys happenings in the Jewish world during the Jewish calendar year 5661. Singled out as most significant are the activities of the Jewish Colonization Association. Among other topics discussed are: the release of the first volume of the Jewish Encyclopedia; Zionist activities of Theodore Herzl and other Zionist leaders; antisemitism problems in Romania; church-state legislative activity in the USA; fundraising activity by Hebrew Union College and the Jewish Theological Seminary; conventions and meetings of American Jewish organizations; Anglo-Jewry in context of the post-Victoria British Empire; improving conditions for Jews in Europe, except in Russia and Romania; and Zionist activity in the Ottoman Empire and elsewhere.
