The author, President of the National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare (later to be known as the Jewish Communal Service Association of North America) opens the annual meeting which took place in New York on June 3-5, 1945, at the end of World War II. He briefly reviews Jewish communal fundraising efforts which took place between 1941 and 1945, efforts which raised over a billion dollars. He also notes Jewish communal contributions to international relief efforts, and to private and public services on the home front.
