Synagogue and Center Relations

By Morris Levin, Samuel Levine, Abe Vinic

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare, June 1951

The authors examine relations between synagogues and Jewish community centers, using the case of a joint cooperative project in Chicago as a case study. They describe the process by which the partnership was initiated, the principles which allow the two types of institutions to work together most effectively, and the roles of rabbis, social workers, professional leaders and lay leaders in making the partnership a success.
