Editor's Note

By Martin M. Cohn

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare, March 1947

The increasing intensity of pressures on American Jewry arising out of the disturbed social conditions which resulted from the depression and the war have led to increasing concern for effective coordination and planning of Jewish community organization, both locally and nationally. Experience indicates that the development of sound local community life is the first essential in approaching this problem.
