Jewish Federation and Council of Greater Kansas City

By Louis S. Myers

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare, March 1947

The Jewish Federation and Council of Greater Kansas City grew out of a merger of the Jewish Welfare Federation and the Jewish Community Council. It is the fruit of the evolutionary growth of both these organizations. Since the interests of the two organizations tended to overlap, either could have developed into an overall central community organization but the merger was deemed to be the best option. This piece describes the experience and new organization as well as the outcome of the merger.
