Presidential Greetings

By Louis H. Sobel

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare, September 1948

The opening remarks from the President of the National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare at the opening session of the 1948 National Council of Jewish Social Welfare. This session comes at a most significant moment in the history and destiny of our people. The dream of centuries, the hope of millions, and the prayers of countless generations have this very--May 15, 1948--become the reality of Jewish Statehood. In the very midst of this historic event, we, the Jewish social workers and educators in America gather in our wonted way to consider and discuss the professional problems and developments affecting our work and our communities.
