Personal Encounters in Public Schools

By Colleen Tambuscio

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), April 2006

Tambuscio points out the need for experiential learning in Holocaust education in the public sector, beyond the Jewish community. German, Israeli, and Polish high school students are mandated to visit and learn from these places, and she believes it is time for American schools to follow suit. As a high school educator, she has seen that students who choose to participate in such trips to Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland are forever changed.
