Commitment and Critique: A Paradigm Shift

By Lee Perlman

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), March 2008

Arguing that education about contemporary Israel has been problematic, the author advocates a commitment and critique approach, which will demand a rigorous re-articulation of educational goals around contemporary Israel issues and their concomitant application. This approach is not without precedent in Judaism; it is in the same vein as our rich tradition of deep and sustained intellectual inquiry.
