Letter to President Bush: Responsible for All

By Martha Ackelsberg

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), January 2005

In a letter to Bush on the eve of his new term, the author argues that Bush missed a promising opportunity to bring the country together after 9/11, and instead, promoted a politics of fear and division. Now that the election is behind us, we can set the stage anew. The author urges Bush to be wary of the use of religious rhetoric; our democracy requires that public policies be based and justified on laws and principles to which we all contribute.
