Will Synagogues Organize for Justice?

By Jonah Pesner

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), January 2007

The author reflects on the ways in which the Jewish community is pursuing justice and engaging others across race, class, and faith to act powerfully and effectively for social change. Just Congregations, launched by the Union for Reform Judaism, engages member congregations in community organizing for this effort. Asserting that our tradition demands that we don't stand idly by in the face of injustice, the author calls the Jewish community to action.
