Book Review: Israel's History of Settlements

By Mitchell B. Hart

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), May 2004

The author reviews S. Ilan Troen's Imagining Zion: Dreams, Designs, and Realities in a Century of Jewish Settlement. He praises Troen's work as a masterful history of the vast investigation into Israel by a host of scientists, engineers, urban planners and other professionals and as an exposition on the political and practical uses to which this knowledge was placed. Troen reminds us how remarkable the Zionist experiment was, but also of its misjudgments, missteps and failures.
