A Dangerous Liaison

By Gershom Gorenberg

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), May 2007

The author asserts that the source of Evangelicals' fascination with Israel is known as dispensational premillennialism, positing that as history nears its end, Jews will fulfill biblical prophecies by returning to their homeland and regaining independence. However, this is a prelude to apocalyptic wars, the death or conversion of all Jews, and the return of Jesus, which the believers await. The author outlines two practical risks to accepting Christian Zionist support and asserts that Israel would do better to keep it at arm's distance.
