Heed the Words: Next Year in Jerusalem

The author contends that many Diaspora communities have become like museums, expending tremendous amounts of money and energy maintaining a community that has lost its reason to be. He argues that instead of creating a transformed Jewish future, people are lost in a reverie about an irretrievable and unworkable Diaspora past. He calls upon such communities to take literally the injunction, "Next year in Jerusalem.
