Book Review: Prayers from the Heart

By Elisheva Carlebach

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), September 2007

In her review of Dinah Berland's Hours of Devotion: Fanny Neuda's Book of Prayers for Jewish Women, the author asserts that Berland's reinterpretation of a classic is a welcome discovery. Berland edited and selected from the various editions to create a book of prayers from the heart, written by and for Jewish women but possessing a universal appeal. She has rewritten and updated Nueda's prayers with a poet's clarity and depth, polished yet deeply affecting.
