Discussion of Mr. Aptekar's Paper

By Ruth Fizdale

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare, March 1949

This piece reflects on Herbert Aptekarâ??s paper on the use of private psychiatrists by social agencies. The piece considers the relationship between social work and psychiatry in the treatment of the neuropsychiatric patient, but highlights another problem of how to keep a social agency fluid in its concept of services needed in a specific community. The piece concludes by highlighting the valuable aspects of the psychiatric treatments discussed by Aptekar.
