Discussion of Mr. Aptekar's Paper

By Samuel R. Rosen

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare, March 1949

This piece reflects on Herbert Aptekarâ??s paper on the use of private psychiatrists by social agencies. The piece discusses the attitudes that the private psychiatrist must develop if he or she is to work successfully within an agency. This includes the acceptance of the fact that the psychiatrist is a member of a much larger team and not necessarily the star of the group. The piece also notes that patients in general seem like the use of the private psychiatrist. The piece concludes by affirming the great opportunity of being able to use private psychiatrist for patients.
