Bringing Innovation Into the Heart of What We Do

By Robin Bernstein, Stephen Hazan Arnoff

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), Winter 2010

Robin Bernstein, president and CEO of the Educational Alliance and Stephen Hazan Arnoff, executive director of the 14th Street Y of the Educational Alliance, describe how many organizations in the nonprofit sector - Jewish and non-Jewish alike - struggle to integrate nontraditional ideas into systems and programs that have remained comfortable even when they are no longer effective. In this article, they share their experience merging innovation and infrastructure in a longstanding agency in the UJA-Federation system in the hopes that their story will be useful for those seeking new ways of dynamic planning and practice in times that demand nothing less.
