Hold the Eulogy, Jewish Renaissance on the Rise

By Sidney Schwarz

Rabbinical Assembly of America (RA), Spring 2004

Considering the problem of young American Jews finding Judaism irrelevant or unappealing, the author suggests that the Jewish community must find a program to replace the ethnic / survivalist agenda which has served American Jewry well during the previous half century. He proposes a new agenda, using as a basic framework the three pillars of the world envisioned by the Mishnah in Avot 1:2 - Torah, Avodah (prayer / service / spiritual grounding) and Gemilut Hasadim (acts of kindness / social responsibility).
