The Privilege Gap

By Sidney Schwarz

Tikkun, 2004

The author relates the experience of himself and his congregation in "adopting," and attempting to "rehabilitate," a homeless man. The author and his congregation learned a lot about the world of poverty and about their own privilege, the author reports, but in the end, the man became homeless once more, and lost all three jobs which the congregation had found for him.
